Apostrophe Usage Guide

Keep apostrophe usage simple and you will get it right most of the time. It's only when you start to over-complicate matters that it starts to feel like quicksand.

If you are really saying "it is" but in a shortened form, then use the apostrophe. (It's mine - it is mine.)

If someone owns it, then use the apostrophe. Examples include "Boylen's website, Tim's dog and Vicki's range of products." In these cases, Boylen owns the website, Tim owns the dog and Vicki owns the range of products.

If there is more than one, it is plural. And so you do not use an apostrophe. For example, two websites.

A final word, if in doubt, Google it!
