Boylen Bootcamp: How To Set Up Facebook and Instagram Verification

Trust is important online. Make sure your Facebook business and Instagram accounts are verified. You’ll receive a trust icon that tells people you are legitimate.

Facebook verification simply confirms you are the business you claim to be, which prevents identity theft.

    The process is very simple.

    1. When you go into your Facebook business account, in the top right-hand corner there is a Settings button. Click this.
    2. Choose page verification.
    3. It asks for your phone number. You type it in and if it is the same as the business number that’s listed on your page, you will receive an automated call from Facebook. (Tip: let your receptionist or other team members know in advance.)
    4. You will be given a six-digit number. Type this in and you are now verified – and you receive a verification badge, which is an important trust symbol for people who don’t know your business.
    5. If you don’t have a phone number, they will mail something out to you, similar to the process that Google uses.

For Instagram verification, the process is a little bit different.  You need to apply for verification and then they will go back through your business profile to determine whether or not you are who you say you are.

Be aware that this process can take a while.  If it makes you feel any better, it took Andrew “Cosi” Costello ages to get his verification, despite his massive following on Instagram.
